The GB Freestyle Kayaking Academy Camp is a flagship event in the UK paddling calendar, designed to bring together the country’s most enthusiastic young freestyle paddlers for a week of high-energy training, development, and fun – all within the world-class environment of Team GB.
Camp Location
Holme Pierrepont Whitewater Course, Nottingham
This five-day summer camp is open to young paddlers aged 11–17 with a keen interest in freestyle kayaking. Set in a fully supported, parent-free environment, the camp offers professional coaching, team building, and water-based adventure.

Who Can Join?
We’re looking for motivated, friendly young paddlers who:
- Are enthusiastic about freestyle kayaking
- Are active in their club or centre
- Show a willingness to learn and support others
- Ideally have a flatwater or moving water roll – but a love for swimming works too!
Nominations must be submitted by a club, group, or centre. Each organisation can nominate up to two paddlers, and former Academy attendees must reapply using the same form.
Coach Development Opportunities
This camp isn’t just for young paddlers – it’s a learning opportunity for coaches too!
If your club has positive, active coaches who love sharing their knowledge and want to get involved in freestyle, they can also be nominated to join the Academy. Coaches will:
- Work alongside GB Team athletes and lead coaches
- Share and develop their own coaching skills
- Help inspire the next generation of freestyle talent
